Japanese anime studio Ghibli announced today that it is currently working on a new original anime that will premiere in just a few weeks. You can find a first visual further down in this article.
Premiering in July 2026
The new original anime, titled “Majo no Tani no Yoru” (Night in the Valley of the Witches), is the first anime short film to be produced specifically for a screening at Ghibli Park, a theme park in Nagakute.
The exclusive premiere of the work directed by Goro Miyazaki (“Aya and the Witch”) and Akihiko Yamashita (key animation on “The Boy and the Heron”) will take place there on July 8, 2026. Fittingly, the plot of the anime is also set in Ghibli Park – specifically in the “Valley of the Witches”.
Ghibli Park has been open to visitors since November 1, 2022 – the opening took place two years later than initially planned. The following year, the 7.1 hectare site was expanded to include additional areas.
