After only the 47-minute first episode of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run” appeared on Netflix last month, the streaming service was confronted with massive criticism of its publication policy.
Statement from Netflix
In a short statement shared by Netflix today on its official X anime content account, which has now been viewed more than 5.5 million times, the video-on-demand provider said:
»Thank you for your great support of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run”. Production is moving forward so that all viewers can enjoy the series.
We are planning a split-cour release across the entire episode runtime. The next Cour (2nd Stage) will premiere on Netflix in fall 2026, with a new episode released every week. This release plan is part of our original concept and reflects the wishes of the production committee.
Your passion and enthusiasm mean a lot to everyone involved in the preparation. We thank you for your patience and continued support as we work to bring you the 2nd Stage.«
This means that “JoJo” fans can probably look forward to the first new episodes in around six months, before the series takes a break of an as yet unknown length after three months. We’ll keep you updated.
“Steel Ball Run” is the sixth anime adaptation of the “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” franchise and adapts the seventh installment of the manga series by Hirohiko Araki. The studio David Production is responsible for the production.
