The Super Mario Galaxy movie has just confirmed the most unexpected Nintendo crossover.

No one really expected it, and yet the announcement came. A few days before its release scheduled for April 1, 2026, the Super Mario Galaxy film continues to increase the pressure with an unexpected revelation surrounding its casting.

While Mario, Peach, Luigi and Toad are preparing to go into space to face Bowser, a new emblematic character from the Nintendo universe has just joined the adventure. An appearance which already changes the perception of the film and opens the door to much more than a simple adaptation.

Super Mario Galaxy confirms Nintendo crossover with Star Fox

It was via a recent announcement that the surprise was made official. Fox McCloud, hero of the Star Fox saga, joins the cast of the Super Mario Galaxy film. “Let the rock and roll begin! Fox McCloud joins the cast of Super Mario Galaxy, the Movie, exclusively in theaters April 1. Reserve your tickets now.”

Even before this confirmation, some viewers had spotted clues in the trailer. A silhouette, a blaster, a few subtle details were enough to fuel the theories. This time, there is no longer any doubt: the crossover is real. This choice marks an important step for Nintendo, which here mixes two major universes from its catalog.

Super Mario Galaxy is no longer content to be a simple animated film. It becomes a testing ground for the future of Nintendo adaptations to cinema.
