The Last of Us returns with a superb new version in the coming months

Some works never really leave players. More than ten years after its initial release, The Last of Us continues to expand its universe, this time through an object designed for collectors. While the HBO series continues its adaptation, a new musical edition has just been announced. A release planned for June 2026 which should appeal to lovers of beautiful pieces.

The Last of Us season 2, a soundtrack that becomes a collector’s item

Since 2013, The Last of Us has established itself as one of the most notable video game licenses. Its television adaptation by HBO reinforced this popularity, driven by the performances of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

Music has always played a central role in the franchise’s identity. Composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, the soundtrack has become inseparable from the atmosphere of the story.

For season 2 of the series, a new vinyl edition has been made official. Entitled The Last of Us: Season 2 (Original Soundtrack to the HBO Series), it is produced by Mondo Music in collaboration with Milan Records.

A triple vinyl edition with an elaborate design

This physical version doesn’t just come with a simple press. This is a triple vinyl box set presented in a soft-touch fold-out sleeve. The design was entrusted to Janie Peacock. The illustration highlights Joel and Ellie, played on screen by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

The slogan “Every path has a price” accompanies the whole. All three discs feature brown, white and silver finishes, with the series’ iconic butterfly embossed. This attention to detail clearly positions this edition as a collector’s item more than a simple musical medium.

A release planned for June 2026

The soundtrack is expected in June 2026 and pre-orders are already open. The advertised price is $80. A substantial price, but consistent with the premium positioning of the product. This release comes as the series continues to establish itself as one of the most followed video game adaptations.

Music that has become iconic

Beyond the object, it is the score itself that attracts attention. Gustavo Santaolalla and David Fleming have shaped an instantly recognizable sonic identity. The compositions alternate between melancholy, tension and minimalism. They reflect both the brutality of the post-apocalyptic world and the fragility of human bonds.

The possibility of listening to this original soundtrack in a physical, crafted and immersive format offers a new way of appreciating the universe of The Last of Us. With this vinyl edition, the license confirms that it goes far beyond the framework of video games to become a lasting part of popular culture.
