While the PlayStation 5 now takes center stage, Sony is not abandoning the PS4. The manufacturer has just deployed system software update 13.50, available now for all users. This new version is a continuation of previous updates, with targeted adjustments rather than major new features.

PS4 13.50 update, discreet but useful improvements

Sony’s official notes remain particularly concise. The manufacturer simply states: “We have improved the messages and ergonomics on certain screens.” No major new features are introduced with this release. The objective is above all to improve the daily user experience. These adjustments mainly concern the interface and certain elements related to navigation or interactions.

A PS4 still followed despite the PS5 era

Released in November 2013, the PS4 is now nearing the end of its life cycle. Sony is currently focusing its efforts on the PS5, but continues to offer updates to maintain the stability of its old console. This strategy helps ensure a decent experience for the millions of players still using the PS4.

Regular updates, but less and less important

As is often the case on end-of-generation consoles, updates become more discreet. They mainly aim to:

  • fix minor issues
  • improve the interface
  • strengthen stability

Version 13.50 is fully in line with this logic, without disrupting the overall experience.

A console still widely used in 2026

Despite the arrival of new machines, the PS4 remains largely present in the daily lives of gamers. Its rich catalog and its still solid performances allow it to maintain a significant active base. With this type of update, Sony shows that it continues to monitor, even if developments now remain limited.
