[MAJ] A bomb threat took place at Ubisoft Montpellier this Thursday, the studio was evacuated during the investigation

UPDATE: Gamekult received a statement from Ubisoft indicating that no credible threat had been identified. Below is the original article.

No explosives found

It is following an email addressed to the Castelnau-le-Lez gendarmerie that the police (including the military, firefighters and deminers) went to the Ubisoft Montpellier premises to evacuate the premises and bring to safety the 500 people who work on site, as well as 300 other people linked to companies near the Montpellier studio, as a precautionary measure.

The email indicating the presence of an explosive within the premises. After a search of the premises, nothing has yet been found, and no leads are favored at the moment, whether this is a hoax or notand the reasons behind this gesture.

This event adds a certain weight to the Ubisoft Montpellier teams, in a more than tense period for the publisher. A strike action took place a week ago following the announcement of job cuts in several studios, including the one located in Paris, and the gradual disappearance of teleworking. The STJV reacted to the bomb threat:

Yesterday, the Ubisoft Montpellier studio had to be evacuated late in the afternoon following a bomb threat. For the moment, no material damage has been reported. The anxiety of the employees was in any case very real, and our support is total. This is not the first time that the studio has been targeted by harassment, whether through threats or attempted intrusions. It is unacceptable to attack people carrying out a benign activity in this way. Our thoughts are particularly with those in charge of reception. We invite our colleagues in Montpellier to take care of their health, and we extend our support to them once again. The teleworking option should have been offered yesterday evening to workers who felt the need, in particular to those who had to come on site on Friday. »

Let’s now hope that the safety of everyone working in the studio is ensured.
