Return of Grom Island, new modes and roadmap overhaul, everything you need to know

What’s coming in Skate Season 3.

Before detailing the content of Season 3, the team explains that it wants to change its way of communicating to compensate for the vagaries of development. From now on, each season will feature:

  • Massive content from launch
  • Gradual additions throughout the season
  • A clear distinction between “in active development” and “under study” (prototypes and ideas explored, without specific date)

Full Circle emphasizes that in the early access phase, some features may be delayed, adjusted or removed if they do not work. For example, the “Open World Collection” was removed from the program in order to prioritize social features like Meetups and turn-based competitive modes.

As for the content of season 3, first we have a new playground with the island of Gromthe area that could only be explored during the Free to play tutorial. New mechanics and tricks are also joining the party :

  • Darkslides and Dark Catches: It will now be possible to perform any flip trick before moving on to these figures.
  • Reworked Boneless: better responsiveness and more reliable behavior on the ground and in transition.
  • Finger Flips (in development)

A new mode will also be offered with Speedlines. It emphasizes pure speed with the goal of achieving the best line in the shortest time. Finally, we will be entitled to a lot of additions in terms of customization for your avatar :

  • Adjustable tattoos (placement, rotation, size)
  • Basic outfits (3 presets initially and expandable)
  • More than 200 items in Store 2.0 (with a new interface)
  • Visual wear of the boards (activatable/deactivatable)

Without forgetting new partnerships with big clothing brands with huf, Jenkem and many others. Some collaborations will be available at launch, others will arrive later in the season.

Surprises for the future

The studio also teases what will happen next, including seasonal events with a surprise partnership and designer challenges with a special guest. If you followed what was established at the beginning of the article on the terms defined by the developers, you know how to understand the content to come. We thus have “under development”:

  • Meetups (drop-in social mode)
  • Competitive modes: Spot Battle and SKATE
  • New matchmaking system
  • New playable area

Under study and without precise timetable:

  • Private servers
  • Underflips
  • Creation of parks by players
  • Rankings
  • Proximity chat
  • Classic Skate Spots 1-3
  • New classic modes
  • More board shapes

More details on the 70’s atmosphere of Season 3 will be revealed on March 5. As a skate reminder. is still available in early access on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
