After a delay and an extension of Season 1 to incorporate player feedback, Season 2 of Battlefield 6 has finally been available since February 17. And according to the first reactions, two major elements are already unanimous: the new Contaminated map and the adjustments made to the movement system. On Reddit, positive reactions are multiplying. A particularly notable post has already exceeded 4,200 positive votes, proof that the community perceives this update as a turning point for the game.
The Contaminated card immediately appeals
Among the new features, the Contaminated card receives much of the praise. One player sums up the general enthusiasm: “The new Contaminated card and movement speed are going in the right direction!”
Another detailed his feelings: “This new map is really nice to look at and navigate, with good variety. Each zone is unique and feels like a battlefield in its own right. The plane zone on Breakthrough, in particular. It really feels like a map that has its own identity, and not a disparate pile of garbage like Eastwood, which looks like it belongs in another game.” The diversity of the areas and the strong visual identity seem to have convinced a demanding community.
A revised and appreciated movement system
The other major change concerns gameplay. The movement adjustments are being hailed as a return to a more classic feel of the series. One player explains: “Movements are now much smoother and closer to those of Battlefield V or older titles: slightly slower, but still rhythmic and dynamic. The speed is no longer as exhausting for long gaming sessions as before, although it is still very fast.” The comments abound in the same direction: “Yes, I hope that everyone will speak out on the adjustments made to the movement, because they are positive and I hope that they will be maintained.”
A generally enthusiastic community
Several players mention a tangible improvement in the overall experience. “I played for about two hours and I completely agree. I play aggressively, but I still manage to gain an advantage with my moves. The new map is the best yet. It offers great depth and every area is different. It’s a great starting point, let’s keep it up!”
“They worked on the movement really well. Very successful adjustments. The new map is absolutely brilliant.” Some are already calling for this momentum to continue: “We just need five more cards like this to keep the game replayable.” And for others, nostalgia also plays a role: “I love the new map. It reminds me of Battlefield 1.”
A strong signal for the future of the game
Season 2 may mark a strategic change of direction for Battlefield Studios. After a more divisive Season 1, this update seems to have reconnected the game with the expectations of its community. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, Battlefield 6 could find a second wind thanks to these adjustments deemed more consistent with the DNA of the franchise.
