Following the failure of Highguard, Wildlight Entertainment is forced to lay off a large part of its teams

The beginning of the end for Highguard

With a mixed launch and attendance that has only decreased over the days, Highguard didn’t get off to a good start. Even after quickly implementing popularly requested changes, such as a 5vs5 mode, Wildlight Entertainment is forced to admit that the results simply aren’t up to par.

On social networks, the studio announces that it must lay off part of its teams, keeping only a certain number of people to ensure future updates :

Today, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to part ways with several members of our team, while retaining a core group of developers to continue to innovate and support the game. We are proud of the team, the talent, and the product we have created together. We are also grateful to the players who took a chance and those who continue to be a part of our community. »

No figures are given here, but level designer Alex Graner indicates for his part that the majority of the studio is affected by these layoffs. In other words, even if Wildlight Entertainment says it is keeping a team to ensure the game’s survival, it’s probably only a matter of time before the end is officially announced for Highguard. A hell of a failure which says a lot about the current state of the service games market, especially when a game such as this one is entitled to a poorly controlled promotional campaign.
