The latest game from the creator of The Binding of Isaac is already a hit

Enough to purr loudly

Mewgenics has only been available since yesterday, but it is already being qualified as a big success. It must be believed that a lot of people were waiting for this new title, since Tyler Glaiel declared on BlueSky that the game’s development costs were repaid in just 3 hours of marketing time. IGN states that the title reached 150,000 sales in just a few hourswith a peak of simultaneous connections on Steam amounting to almost 66,000.

Edmund McMillen indicates that this is therefore the biggest launch of one of his games:

I think the day my games had the best sales, in terms of launch, was for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, which sold 40,000 copies on the first day, I think. »

To this commercial success is added critical success. On Steam, the ratings are more than positive, and on Metacritic, Mewgenics should logically be one of the highest rated games of 2026 with a score of 89 at the time of writing. This tactical roguelite game where you have to build an army of cats therefore has a bright future ahead of it thanks to such a launch, and we can imagine that it will enjoy long-term success if we rely on the history of McMillen’s games.
