In the absence of a release date for The Witcher 4, some fans are taking the lead. An unofficial but free remaster of The Witcher 3, boosted by a series of ultra-advanced graphics mods, gives the 2015 game the look of a new generation blockbuster.
It is the videographer Digital Dreams, well known for his technical demonstrations, who shares this astonishing result on his YouTube channel. Between reworked lighting, 4K textures, dynamic reflections and disconcerting fluidity, The Witcher 3 reaches a simply new visual level… provided you have a PC capable of keeping up.
A rendering worthy of the PlayStation 6
The video features Ciri traveling through White Orchard, Velen and the Skellige Isles, all in 160 frames per second in 4K. The result? A radically transformed world, with significantly enhanced textures, lush vegetation and cinematic lighting effects thanks to ray tracing. Digital Dreams even goes so far as to replace Geralt with a Ciri mod, a nod to the persistent rumor that Ciri will become the main heroine in The Witcher 4.
The animated foliage, the mist on the ground, the reflections on the water at dawn… each element of the decor seems redesigned to meet the standards of a PlayStation 6 game. The objective is clear: offer a credible preview of what The Witcher 4 could look like.
An extreme visual mod, reserved for an elite
Please note: this exceptional rendering cannot be unlocked with a simple click. The machine used by Digital Dreams borders on excess:
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor
- NVIDIA RTX 5090 Founder’s Edition graphics card
- 64 GB of RAM
In other words, this The Witcher 3 version 2026 is reserved for a handful of players equipped like post-production studios. And for those who would try the adventure with a more modest PC… expect to hear your fans beg for mercy.
Ray tracing, the heart of the transformation
It’s not so much the resolution as the light management which changes the situation. Ray tracing allows environments to interact naturally with light sources: a torch illuminates a stone wall with moving reflections, daylight pierces the foliage… The visual rendering becomes almost organic.
The Witcher 3, although already re-released in a “next-gen” version in 2022, here reaches a new technical milestone thanks to the modding community. This work, unofficial but passionate, is already drawing comparisons with CD Projekt Red’s future ambitions.
Towards a The Witcher 4 more daring than ever?
While waiting for the official sequel, these demonstrations act as a laboratory of ideas. Between reinvented character models, darker atmosphere, enhanced level design, this boosted version of The Witcher 3 gives a credible lead on what The Witcher 4 could offer: an even more lively, dynamic and immersive world.
And if we had to choose an unofficial teaser, these videos would serve as an unofficial trailer. The Witcher 3 may be almost 10 years old, but mod after mod, it continues to evolve… and make people dream.
