The clock is ticking. Since February 2, Steam has been offering an exceptional offer that allows players to try more than 50 games for free. This operation, entitled “The Fun, The Dark, and The Cozy”, will end on February 9, 2026. Needless to say, there is not much time left to enjoy it.
This temporary campaign brings together nearly 270 titles, all from a collaboration between Skull Queens Games and Third World Productions, with artistic direction by sergio_art. Around fifty of these games offer a free playable demo, available immediately. A godsend for discovering future hits or unearthing an unexpected gem.
A limited offer not to be missed
In a context where video games can reach sky-high prices, free demos are a valuable way to test before buying. Steam has understood this well with its new festival, which highlights varied universes and original gameplay.
Among the titles noted, Escape From Ever After is doing well. A satirical RPG with “extremely positive” reviews, it takes you into a fight against capitalism. By his side, My Pet Hooligandesigned by former Pixar and EA developers, offers a clever mix of platforming and shooting in an eye-catching visual style. As for God For A Dayit delivers exactly what its title promises.

More than 50 demos to test as you wish
Whatever your style of play, it’s hard not to find the right shoe for you. The catalog of demos is as eclectic as it is surprising: from dark narrative games to dynamic rogue-likes, including colorful and absurd universes.
Take the example of Mops & Mobswhich evokes the great times ofElder Scrolls And Wizardry. The trailer alone evokes an assumed retro atmosphere, revisited with a touch of contemporary humor.
The best thing is to browse the Demos section of the event yourself, directly on the platform. The interface allows you to sort games by genre or graphic style, to get straight to the point.

How to take advantage of the event on Steam?
No need to have a subscription or the latest PC. All you need is a classic Steam account to launch the demos for free. For that :
- Go to the Steam home page
- Click on the tab dedicated to the “Fun, Dark, and The Cozy” event
- Browse the Demos section
- Download the games you are interested in and start playing
But be careful: these free trials will no longer be available after February 9. It’s best not to wait too long if a title intrigues you.
