Officially enabled in the game’s second major update, Photo Mode now allows players to capture their favorite scenes in the crazy post-apocalyptic universe of Borderlands. This feature, although present in Borderlands 3, had strangely disappeared in the following episode.
This is a classic mode, accessible only outside of cutscenes and not available in split screen on consoles. On the other hand, it takes up the solid foundations laid in previous games: free control of the camera, multiple visual settings, stylized filters… Enough to unleash the creativity of players.
Photo mode features and limitations
Camera control is done with the usual movement controls, while a menu divided into several tabs offers a wide range of effects. Although not available in all game situations, the mode allows you to capture dynamic scenes, stylized poses and the ever-exuberant graphical universe of Borderlands.
Be careful, however: the impossibility of using it during cutscenes or in local multiplayer still limits its use for certain fans. But it marks an important step towards more customization in a game where visuals are central.
Other welcome adjustments for players
Beyond Photo mode, the update also modifies certain gameplay mechanics. Harlowe’s “Zero Point” action skill has been reworked to provide more dynamism in combat. Furthermore, the appearance rate of specific loot in the “Ultimate Vault Hunter” mode has been increased, another recurring request from the most dedicated players.
No specific information has yet been shared on the size of the update file, but Gearbox says it is one of the largest patches since the game’s release.
And the Nintendo Switch 2 version in all this?
If Borderlands 4 is indeed planned for Nintendo Switch 2, no official date has yet been set. The current update only concerns the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. However, the release of the Switch 2 could revive the game’s content dynamic by making it accessible to a new nomadic audience.
In the meantime, players on current consoles can now take advantage of this Photo mode, which marks the start of more in-depth monitoring promised by Gearbox in the long term.
