Celebrations to come, hoping it’s not limited to that
The site celebrating 20 years ofOkami is now open, (with a new logo designed by calligrapher Masumi Narita) although we will still have to wait a bit to really start the celebrations. It is in fact next April that the game will truly celebrate its anniversary, but a little message was sent in advance:
“ Since its release on April 20, 2006, Ōkami has held a special place in the hearts of many gamers for its unique setting, touching story, and thrilling adventures. Just as the bonds formed between Amaterasu and Issun during their journey paved the way for the future, it is through the deep affection and bonds that bind you all together that Ōkami has reached this milestone. We sincerely thank you for maintaining this link with Ōkami over the past 20 years. May this year be an opportunity to continue to forge new bonds with all of you, in order to move forward towards an even brighter future. We will launch various commemorative projects, including products and events celebrating this 20th anniversary. Join us in celebrating this 20th anniversary. »
So of course, it is better not to make plans and not to have false hopes. It would be surprising to have news of the sequel to Okami in the coming months, this anniversary being undoubtedly focused on other events (and the release of goodies, no doubt). But who knows, we are never safe from a pleasant surprise.
