The phenomenon was spotted on Reddit by players who had already requested the game via PS Plus back when it was still available. Despite its official removal, Life is Strange 2 appears as “playable” in their library. Better yet, the additional episodes, initially offered in the form of DLC, also seem unlocked. Testimonies are multiplying, confirming that the bug works on PS4 as well as on PS5. For the moment, neither Sony nor Square Enix have publicly reacted to this anomaly.

Who can still access Life is Strange 2 for free?

The bug only concerns players who meet a very specific condition: having requested the game via PlayStation Plus during the period when it was offered in the catalog. If you had downloaded at least Episode 1 or added the game to your library at that time, you have a chance of being able to grab it.

On the other hand, those who have never claimed the game via PS Plus will not be able to benefit from it. The bug does not provide universal access, but reactivates an acquired right… unexpectedly.

How to check and recover episodes of the full game?

Here is the procedure to follow:

  • Go to your PlayStation library (PS4 or PS5)
  • Search for “Life is Strange 2”
  • If the game shows as downloadable, start the download
  • Check if additional episodes are also available
  • Launch the game: if it works, the bug is active for you

If applicable, you will be able to play the entire title, without restriction. The full story takes around 15 hours, making it a great option for an intense weekend.

A temporary flaw to be exploited without delay

As is often the case with this type of bug, it is likely that Sony will quickly correct the unintended access. Some similar bugs in the past were fixed in just a few days. In other cases, players were able to keep their games for several months.

It is therefore advisable to download the game and launch it at least once to secure access while the vulnerability is active. After a certain period, Sony could block access or revoke licenses retroactively.
