The title of Capcompresented as an ambitious new narrative chapter in the famous horror saga, could well get richer quickly after its release. On Platform An addition that could well strike a nostalgic chord among long-time fans.
Alyssa Ashcroft at the heart of the additional content?
The name ofAlyssa Ashcroft is not unknown to fans of the series. Present in Resident Evil Outbreakthis tenacious journalist was an iconic playable character of the PS2 period. In Resident Evil Requiemshe no longer appears physically: “At the time of the events of Resident Evil Requiem, Alyssa Ashcroft has been dead for several years”. She is now his daughter, Grace Ashcroftwho plays the role of main protagonist.
But this disappearance does not exclude a return in the form of flashbacks or parallel narrative content. According to leaks, the DLC would take the form of a prequel, exploring a part of Alyssa’s story before her death.
Capcom remains silent, but fans speculate
Capcom has not yet confirmed any DLC for Resident Evil Requiem. However, the strategy would not be surprising: the last two main parts, Resident Evil 7 and Village, had each received major additional content, often focused on the story. The possibility of replaying Alyssa in a dedicated chapter therefore seems credible and consistent with the policy of the Japanese publisher.
On the fan side, expectations are high. On specialized forums, some are hoping for a segment focused on Alyssa’s investigation or on the events that led to her disappearance. Others are even considering an episodic return of the format Outbreak.
A known strategy: teaser before the release to maintain attention
Announcing or leaking DLC before a game’s release has become standard practice in the industry. This allows the publisher to maintain attention on the title and give a prospect of longevity to the game. If the leak proves accurate, this future content could give Resident Evil Requiem a double reading: that of the descent into hell of Graceand that of his mother’s complex heritage, Alyssa. While waiting for an official announcement, players just have to examine the clues and speculate… while preparing for a new dose of horror made by Capcom from February 27.
