A lot of subcontracting to achieve this result
Beast of Reincarnation took six years of work from Game Freak, and since Pokémon couldn’t stop for so many years, you can imagine that the majority of the studio was not on the next action-RPG. In an interview with IGN, Kota Furushima, director of the game, explains that in reality, only a portion of Game Freak is working on the game, while the rest is managed through subcontracting:
“ The team is quite large, as you can imagine, but I would like to point out that it is not only made up of internal Game Freak collaborators. We have managed to form partnerships with many companies and studios capable of realizing our vision of the game. We are therefore fortunate to be able to count on such a large external team. »
Game Freak, however, insisted to IGN to clarify things and say that if the internal team is “ relatively small », it is she who is leading the project. Nothing unusual here, since we imagine that the bulk of the studio is working on the next major Pokémon in the saga during this time.
Beast of Reincarnation will be released this summer on PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store), PS5 and Xbox Series (directly on Game Pass Ultimate).
