Steam is offering a Diablo-style RPG for free: co-op and combat available this weekend

Steam Free Weekends are nothing new. But when a early access game makes so much noise, it’s hard to miss. Since January 18, No Rest For The Wicked is available for free until January 26 at 7:00 p.m. (French time). A godsend for players curious to explore a dark and demanding new world, without spending a cent.

Developed by Moon Studios (known for Ori and the Blind Forest), the title aims to combine the best of loot action games like Diablo, with the tension of tactical combat from Dark Souls. All in an original universe, mixing raw fantasy, online co-opAnd life simulation elements.

A hand-carved world and challenging gameplay

The studio made a bold choice: to create an environment without procedural generation, with every corner of the game being thought out by hand. The result is a dense and credible world, conducive to exploration alone or in cooperation with up to four players. The combat system is at the heart of the experience, inspired by demanding games like Dark Souls. The developers describe No Rest For The Wicked as “a hand-crafted world with a Souls-like combat system.”

Each confrontation can become decisive, each error costs dearly. But unlike pure Souls, the game also includes varied difficulty levels, to accommodate a wider audience, without distorting the demands of the mechanics.

Crafts, home and zero microtransactions: an accepted choice

Beyond the fight, No Rest For The Wicked offers a dimension of daily life much more advanced than in classic hack’n’slash. Players can get involved in construction, harvesting, trading or even decorating homes. All these aspects are “directly integrated into the gameplay”, without affecting the pace of the adventure.

Another strong promise from the studio: the game economy. No internal store, no items to buy, no paid boosts. “No microtransactions,” the developers swear. Here, “everything is won by playing”, the old fashioned way.

A free version… but limited in time

Technically, the game remains in early accesswhich means it continues to evolve. But that didn’t stop the community from giving him a warm welcome. On Steam, the title displays 86% very positive reviewsproof that the artistic and mechanical bet works.

There are a few days left to take advantage of the free trial, available until January 26 at 7:00 p.m.. It is also recommended to purchase the game during this period: Steam often offers temporary discounts to accompany its free weekends. For fans of muscular co-op, addictive loot and deep universes, No Rest For The Wicked is an essential test this month.
