Square Enix has just announced Life Is Strange: Reunionan all-new episode centered around the iconic duo formed by Max Caulfield and Chloe Price. Developed by Deck Nine Games, this new opus is a continuation of Double Exposure and brings together the two heroines in a plot where time, memory and trauma intertwine again.
The game will be released on March 26, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will mark a turning point for the series: for the first time, the player will be able to embody both Max and Chloe, in a two-voiced story which promises to explore the consequences of a fundamental choice made in the previous episode.
A campus on fire and three days to change everything
Reunion begins on the campus of Caledon University, where Max now teaches photography. But his return from a peaceful weekend turns into a nightmare: the campus is ravaged by a deadly fire. Students, colleagues, friends… Max loses everything, except his ability to go back in time.
Using a selfie as a temporal anchor, she goes back three days. The player then has a tight deadline to understand the origin of the fire and prevent disaster. This narrative mechanism puts the rewind at the heart of the experience, but with a freer amplitude than ever.
Chloe back, and not just as a souvenir
The real shock comes when Chloe reappears on campus. Its presence, linked to the merger of timelines carried out at the end of Double Exposureupsets Max. This time, Chloe is real, playable, and has her own abilities: persuasion, daring, direct confrontation with suspects.
The alternation between Max and Chloe allows events to be approached from two different angles. Chloe can access places and dialogues inaccessible to Max, while the latter modifies the past to influence the present. An unprecedented dynamic in the series.
Dual viewpoint gameplay and temporal puzzles
The game system is based on the complementarity of the two characters. Max manipulates time, Chloe manipulates people. Together, they must question, explore, put the pieces back together. The environment becomes a multi-dimensional puzzle, to be solved by juggling logic, emotion and deduction.
Players can also choose the nature of the bond between the two heroines: a simple newfound friendship or something more intimate. This choice will influence certain interactions, without changing the heart of the story.
