Legend of Zelda celebrates its 40th anniversary with a shower of free downloads not to be missed

Zelda fans have a good reason to relaunch their island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. To mark the 40th anniversary of Nintendo’s cult saga, a special update unlocks a range of collector’s items inspired by the world of Hyrule. Better yet, a new LEGO collaboration has also leaked, promising a year rich in nostalgia and winks for players.

The festivities started slowly, but are expected to intensify as February approaches, the exact date of the anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. In the meantime, players can already unlock many themed items, provided they fulfill a small requirement.

Zelda items to unlock in Animal Crossing… if you have an Amiibo

To access the exclusive gifts, one prerequisite is essential: own at least one Amiibo linked to the Zelda universe. As the ScreenRant editor explains: “Please note, I would like to point out that these gifts are subject to one condition: you must own at least one Legend of Zelda Amiibo”.

Once your figurine has been scanned via the Nook Stop located at the town hall, you will need to choose the “Invite a camper with an Amiibo” option. Immediately, a character like Tulin or Mineru will appear on your island: “After scanning an Amiibo, Tulin or Mineru will appear at your island camp.”

This process then unlocks all Zelda items in the Nook Shopping catalog, under the “Promotions” tab. If you have the necessary bells, the Sword of Legend, the Triforce or even the Ocarina of Time are yours.

All available Zelda items and their prices in bells

Around thirty objects inspired by games Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom or even A Link to the Past are accessible. Here are some examples of the prices displayed in store:

  • Legendary sword: 5,000 bells
  • Triforce: 3,333 bells
  • Link’s outfit: 2,300 bells
  • Majora’s Mask: 2,500 bells
  • Ocarina of time: 2,500 bells
  • Decrepit Guardian: 3,000 bells
  • Tri Rod: 13,330 bells

Players can only order five items per day through the catalog. Some fans didn’t wait to revamp their island, as the ScreenRant journalist explains: “I already dressed up as Link and hid the Sword of Legend in the middle of a small corner of the forest on my island.”

A collector’s LEGO Zelda set announced for March 2026

In parallel with this operation in Animal Crossing, a recent leak seems to confirm the arrival of a collector’s LEGO set dedicated to Ocarina of Time. Its price would be $129.99 and its release scheduled for March 1, 2026.

Although Nintendo has not yet made this box official, everything indicates that it is real: “Although it has not yet been officially announced, a recent leak has all but confirmed it; so it’s time to start saving your rubies.”

After 40 years of adventures and mythical objects, The Legend of Zelda once again proves its ability to reinvent itself and unite beyond its own games.
