Steam offers 4 new free PC games to grab immediately, without a subscription

Good news for PC players: Steam is currently offering four completely free games to download… and keep for good. These independent titles, newly released for January 2026, cover various genres and are accessible to all, without any subscription or special conditions. A great opportunity to expand your library without spending a cent.

Once added to your account, these games become yours forever. No need to be fast like during limited promotions: these titles belong to the free-to-play category, but do not require any microtransactions or permanent connection. Here’s what you need to know.

The 4 free games to download now

Steam welcomes four original games this month:

  • The Little Raccoon – A cooking game… but a stealth version. You play as a thieving raccoon who must steal food to transform it into dishes for your customers. A mechanic as fun as it is clever.
  • Run Coffee Run – A first-person platform game where you have to stay awake at all costs. Fast pace, stylish graphics and cascading challenges for speed lovers.
  • Let’s Save Mice – A cooperative multiplayer game where you must explore an island, solve puzzles and rescue trapped rodents. Play with friends to fully enjoy it.
  • Lavalamp – A psychedelic first-person exploration experience, where floating lights, eerie ambiance and narrative puzzles intertwine.

Each of these games was released between January 7 and 14, 2026. None is a simple demo or a truncated version: they are complete, with no duration restrictions.

No subscription required, zero conditions

Unlike services like Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, Steam does not require any subscription here. All you need is a free Steam account to add the games to your library.

Once acquired, they remain accessible even if you do not install them right away. And since Steam lets you filter your games by date or tag, you’ll easily find them when you’re ready to play them.

How to recover these games?

Here is the procedure to follow so as not to miss anything:

  1. Log in to your Steam account on PC or via the website.
  2. Search for titles manually (or go through the “Free” sheet of the day).
  3. Click “Add to My Library” or “Install”.
  4. Now you can play it whenever you want, even offline.

Please note: these games are not promoted centrally on the home page. It is therefore easy to miss them if you do not follow the announcements of free releases. Consider adding the games now, even if you don’t plan to play them right away.

A diversity of styles for all players

What is striking about this selection is the variety of genres offered. From the contemplative narrative game to the nervous action, including the cooperative puzzle or the quirky management, there is something for every player.

It’s also an opportunity to discover little-known independent studios, whose creations often go under the radar. Steam offers them great visibility here, and you, a chance to test something other than the usual AAA blockbusters.
