Negotiations begin
The GamesIndustry.biz site relays the announcement from Ubisoft, which therefore wishes to launch a collective contractual termination plan, which could affect up to 200 positions in its Parisian premises. The positions concerned would mainly be those around the finance, marketing, administrative or management sectors, and therefore potentially not those linked to development.
Discussions must now take place internally between employees, unions and Ubisoft management in order to find arrangements on the compensation to be provided to people who accept this outcome. No decision has been made at the moment, and these negotiations could be tense, given that the protest is quite strong within the group following last week’s announcements. A strike led by the Solidaires Informatiques union was launched for half a day.
As a reminder, Ubisoft had also opted for the voluntary departure plan strategy with Massive Studios a few weeks ago, but this plan was followed by more direct layoffs.
