The next episode of The Witcher is still awaited, but its development is progressing quickly. CD Projekt Red has shared new information that gives a clearer idea of the scale of the project. According to the latest figures released, The Witcher 4 is now mobilizing a massive team. A development which confirms the studio’s ambitions for this new opus, expected to be a major turning point for the license.

A development team of 499 people

The development of The Witcher 4 now relies on a team of 499 people. This figure marks a significant increase, with the arrival of 88 new developers since February 2025. The project alone accounts for more than half of CD Projekt Red’s workforce. The studio currently has 933 developers spread across all of its projects. This breakdown clearly shows that The Witcher 4 is the priority at the moment. The other projects continue to evolve, but at a more moderate pace.

Talents from major video game projects

To strengthen its team, CD Projekt Red has recruited several profiles from recognized games. This strategy aims to guarantee a high level of quality from the first phases of development. Among the recruits, we find talents who have worked on significant projects. The cinematic director of Baldur’s Gate 3, a composer from Blizzard and a cinematic animator who participated in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 have joined the adventure. Even if the exact number of profiles at this level is not specified, their presence demonstrates a clear desire to surround oneself with the best.

Cyberpunk 2 is also progressing in parallel

If The Witcher 4 remains the priority, CD Projekt Red has not put aside its other projects. Cyberpunk 2 also continues to develop. The team dedicated to this game has grown from 116 to 149 developers in a few months. For now, the project is still in the pre-production phase. This means that its team could grow further as development progresses. However, its release is still far away.

A strategy on several games for the future of the license

CD Projekt Red is not limited to a single game. The studio plans to develop several titles related to the universe of The Witcher. Three games are planned over a period of approximately six years. The Witcher 4 will be the first, with probably the longest development cycle. The following projects should build on the technical and creative foundations established by this new opus. With a growing team and high ambitions, The Witcher 4 is already establishing itself as one of the studio’s most important projects.
