Geralt of Rivia returns to service. From February 19, 2026, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition once again joins the Xbox Game Pass catalog after several years of absence. An arrival which revives interest around CD Projekt Red’s cult RPG, while rumors persist about a potential new DLC. But not everyone will be able to benefit from it. Free access is reserved for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Premium subscribers. Other plans, notably PC Game Pass, are not affected.
The Witcher 3 Complete Edition available on Game Pass Ultimate and Premium
This version offered on the service includes all the content released since 2015. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition brings together the main game as well as its two major expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
In total, this represents more than 150 hours of gameplay between the main quest, the secondary missions and the two additional story arcs. The Complete Edition also includes all additional content released post-release, as well as new items like swords, armor, and alternate outfits inspired by the Netflix series The Witcher.
Technical improvements made to the Xbox Series X/S version are also included. Players benefit from significant visual improvements and performance optimizations.
Technical improvements designed for the Xbox Series X/S
The return of The Witcher 3 to Game Pass comes with many improvements. The Xbox version has been enriched with an improved level of visual detail, reduced loading times and the integration of community-created mods.
Real-time ray tracing is also one of the new technical features available on Xbox Series X/S. These optimizations allow you to rediscover the world of Velen, Novigrad or Toussaint in better conditions than during the initial release in 2015.
For players who have not yet explored Geralt’s adventure, or for those who wish to start a game again, this version represents an ideal opportunity.
Not all subscribers are affected
This return to Game Pass marks a new stage for the game, which had already been available on the service between 2019 and 2021 before being withdrawn. However, only Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Premium subscribers can download and play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition for free. PC Game Pass subscribers, which is to be dissolved in the coming months as part of an announced restructuring, will not be able to access it without purchase. This restriction raises questions among certain players regarding the segmentation of offers and the real value of the different subscriptions.
A strategic return for CD Projekt Red
The timing of this reintegration is not trivial. While speculation around possible new content for The Witcher 3 has been circulating for several months, putting the game back in the spotlight via Xbox Game Pass helps revive engagement around the franchise. Released on May 19, 2015, the title developed and published by CD Projekt Red remains one of the highest rated RPGs of its generation, with a critical average of 93/100 and a recommendation rate of 95% according to specialized aggregators. With this return to Game Pass, eligible subscribers can dive back into the full adventure at no additional cost, while others will have to wait or go through the classic purchase.
