The release of Starfield finally announced on PS5 with DLC and big surprises

After months of waiting and persistent rumors, Bethesda finally formalizes an announcement awaited by many players. Starfield, initially launched in 2023, will land on PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026 with a series of important new features.

This arrival is not limited to a simple portage. The studio is supporting this launch with new content and an ambitious update, which some fans already consider to be a “version 2.0” of the game. A development which could well revive interest in the space RPG.

Starfield on PS5, a date confirmed with a notable price drop

The appointment is now set. Starfield will be available on PS5 from April 7, 2026, marking a new step in Bethesda’s strategy. At the same time, the publisher announces a significant price drop. The game drops to $49.99 on all platforms, up from $69.99 on Xbox. A decision that could appeal to hesitant players and broaden its audience. This price repositioning comes at the very time when the content of the game is enriched, reinforcing the overall attractiveness of this new version.

Terran Armada DLC, a new story and new content

To accompany this release, Bethesda is introducing a DLC called Terran Armada. This paid content, offered at $10, adds a new narrative to the game. Players will be able to discover new characters, explore new locations and face new enemies. Additional rewards also enrich progression. This DLC will be offered to owners of the Premium edition, a strategy already adopted by Bethesda on its previous titles to retain the most committed players.

Free Lanes update, space flight finally transformed

Beyond the DLC, Bethesda is rolling out a free update called Free Lanes, accessible to all players. This update notably introduces a highly anticipated feature: the ability to travel freely between planets in the same star system. A development that profoundly changes space exploration.

New content has been added:

  • more encounters and points of interest
  • new dungeons
  • a new resource called X-Tech to improve equipment and ships

These additions aim to densify the game universe and renew the experience.

New vehicles, creatures and content to revive the experience

Bethesda is also enriching the game with several additional elements. A new land vehicle, the Moon Jumper, appears, making it easier to travel on certain surfaces. Players will also be able to count on a new companion, the Milliewhale, as well as a new crew member.

The update also introduces a new mechanic in New Game + mode, allowing you to carry a limited number of items. Finally, five new adventures linked to the Tracker Alliance are already available, adding new targets to existing content.
