The release date of the Steam Machine finally known, and it’s very good news

Officially announced in November 2025, Valve’s Steam Machine is preparing to join the large family of new generation consoles. Positioned halfway between a compact gaming PC and a home console, it relies on optimized power, a discreet format and rare software openness in the world of gaming. Thanks to recent revelations from AMD, a key technical partner of the project, we now know more about its release schedule, its technical characteristics and its philosophy. A complete point is required on this console which could well upset the balance between PC and console.

Strong partnership between AMD and Valve confirmed

During a quarterly earnings conference call, AMD CEO Lisa Su confirmed that Valve was “on track to begin shipping its Steam Machine powered by AMD processors early this year.” » AMD provides custom APUs, just like for the Steam Deck, guaranteeing performance and stability for this new console.

Despite rumors of delays linked to the increase in the price of components such as RAM or the GPU, this statement is reassuring. The Steam Machine, announced in November 2025, is an integral part of Valve’s strategy to expand its Steam hardware family from 2026.

Compact design, amplified power and absolute silence

The Steam Machine adopts a cube format of 15 cm side, designed to blend into a living room environment. Equipped with a customizable LED strip, it displays a sober and futuristic style. Its interchangeable front panel adds a nice touch of modularity.

Valve claims that the Steam Machine offers “the power of more than six Steam Decks combined” while maintaining quiet operation, even on demanding AAA games. The system runs SteamOS and promises full compatibility with existing Steam libraries.

Complete connectivity and smooth 4K rendering

The console is equipped with an Ethernet port, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, USB-C and four USB-A ports. Thanks to FSR technology, games will be rendered at a lower resolution then “upscaled” for display in 4K at 60 fps.

Two versions of the console will be offered: 512 GB and 2 TB of storage, both expandable via microSD. It also integrates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an internal power supply, making everything very autonomous.

A hybrid and open console, designed for gamers

Besides gaming, the Steam Machine can be used as a traditional PC. The user will be able to install their own applications and operating systems. It will also allow streaming to other devices.

With a launch still planned for early 2026 and a well-established ecosystem, the Steam Machine could fill a gap between classic consoles and PC gaming. It remains to be known its official price and its exact marketing date, which are still kept secret.
