The release date of the next generation Xbox will disappoint more than one

While Nintendo has already launched its Switch2 in 2025 and that Sony prepare for the future PS6the question of a new Xbox console agitates the players. On the surface, everything seems to be moving towards a launch planned for 2027. However, despite the enthusiastic declarations ofAMD, Microsoft has not yet officially acted on anything.

The CEO of AMD, Lisa Suconfirmed that development of the semi-custom SoC for the next Xbox is “progressing well”. But according to a report published by Jez Cordenno real commitment currently exists on a specific date. In short: 2027 is a target, not a promise.

Microsoft cautious about market constraints

According to the same report, Microsoft anticipates a prolonged longevity of the current Xbox Series, also shared by the PS5. The manufacturer has not yet finalized a clear pricing strategy, due to soaring memory and storage costs. The global economic context is therefore pushing Redmond to play for time.

At the same time, Microsoft would have been taken by surprise by Lisa Su’s public statements, revealing a schedule still being discussed internally. The year 2027 is discussed internally as a “best-case scenario”, but no plan is set in stonebecause everything depends on progress on the OS integrated into the console.

Windows 11 at the heart of the Xbox experience

Microsoft is banking on a increased integration between Xbox and Windows 11. The two teams are now working together to offer a unified gaming experiencefluid, designed for consoles, PCs and hybrid devices.

With this in mind, Microsoft wants to make any terminal an entry point to its ecosystemas evidenced by the launch of ROG Ally Xbox in 2025. The future therefore involves hardware as much as services.

A modular and multiplatform Xbox

According to Jez Corden’s sources, the new generation Xbox should offer several models at different prices, in collaboration with manufacturers like ASUS. The idea: to offer an evolving range, with accessible entry-level products and premium versions, while maintaining compatibility with other platforms.

The strategy is clear: open the Xbox experience as much as possible to players, whether they are on console, PC or even Switch2. This multiplatform orientation could also be accompanied by changes in Game Passeven if these remain long term.
