Published on Reddit, this initiative launched by the community GTA VI Mapping Discord aims to reconstruct the exact contours of the game map, by combining leaks, trailers and analyzes of real places like Miami, the obvious base for the city of Vice City.
A GTA 6 map well before Rockstar
Initially announced for 2025, then pushed back to May 2026, GTA VI finally saw its release slide towards November 2026. In this endless wait, fans have not been idle. A Reddit user known as poorna_sus14 shared the project in a detailed post titled: “Inside GTA VI Mapping: The Community Rebuilding the GTA VI Map Before Release”
He explains in depth the methods used to design the map:
“I’ve been wanting to make this post for a while to explain the inner workings of the ‘GTA VI Mapping Discord’ server and the methods the team uses to create such an impressively accurate reconstruction of the GTA VI base map — all before the game has even been released.”

Tracking tools worthy of investigators
Members of the Discord server sift through the two available trailers, previous leaks and references to the real world. By comparing, for example, buildings, roads, coastlines or road signs to those of Miami and its surroundings, they draw up a probable version of the final map.
Tools such as Google Earth, public geolocation databases or even modding engines are used to estimate the area, distances and points of interest of this future map.

A collective project that fascinates the GTA community
This collaborative reconstruction is not content to be a fad of impatient fans. It reflects the unparalleled fervor around GTA VI, considered by many to be one of the most anticipated games of the decade. Each post from the project generates thousands of comments, theories and speculations about the size, neighborhoods or secrets the map might hold.
This phenomenon also demonstrates how much players like to appropriate a universe even before its release, by modeling it, by mapping it, by experiencing it in anticipation.

Rockstar still silent on the official map
For its part, Rockstar Games remains faithful to its minimal communication strategy. No official details on the size or precise contents of the card have been released yet. For the moment, the studio is content to distil its trailers little by little, while the whole world waits for the slightest image of gameplay.
While waiting for the highly anticipated trailer 3, the community continues to refine its version of the playground. At this rate, it would not be surprising if this fan-made map becomes a reference… even before the real one is revealed.
