Switch 2: 10 free games to test this weekend, with nuggets from Nintendo Direct

The Nintendo Switch 2 is starting the year strong with a series of free games to discover without delay. Several of them were revealed during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase on February 5, 2026, a presentation that made headlines, as much for its revelations as for certain absences noted like Elden Ring Or The Duskbloods.

Regardless, players can rejoice: ten free games are already available on the hybrid console, and some look particularly promising. If you have time this weekend, now is the time to dive into these varied experiences.

Reanimal, FF7, Monster Hunter… the stars of Direct

The game that caught everyone’s attention is Reanimala dark and stylized horror game from the creators of Little Nightmares. The player plays a child confronted with his fears in a disturbing world. “Reanimal, a game I’m really looking forward to trying. From the creators of Little Nightmares, comes another horror game where you play as a child fighting for survival.”

Another heavyweight in this round of titles: Monster Hunter Stories 3 – Twisted Reflectiona clever mix between the cult saga Monster Hunter and the open universe of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. For his part, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth confirms its arrival on Switch 2, with a revised version for the new Nintendo console.

From Zelda to Resident Evil: the classics still present

Some games were not highlighted during the event, but remain available for free download. Among them, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Blight embodies the spirit of the Zelda series in dynamic musō gameplay.

You can also (re)discover Resident Evil 6a version that has been criticized but which keeps its fans, especially as we approach Resident Evil: Requiem scheduled for later this month. As for Metroid Dreadit rekindles the flame of the first episodes while offering real new features. “It has that classic feel while still offering mechanics that are both new and interesting, something that Prime 4 unfortunately failed to do.”

Miitopia, Dredge, Peach… real surprises not to be missed

Alongside the known licenses, several unexpected titles are worth the detour. Miitopiaa light and humorous RPG, allows you to create your own characters and have them evolve in absurd adventures. “Even if the experience is not the same, it is a decent game to wait while waiting for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.”

Princess Peach: Showtime! is a charming spin-off game that puts the famous princess back in the spotlight, while Dredgewith its mysterious atmosphere and captivating progression, will delight fans of narrative games. All are free right now on Switch 2.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 is coming, and it’s free too

Finally, if you like muscular narrative games and Japanese universes, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties should be monitored closely. It’s coming in the coming days and will also be free on Nintendo Switch 2. “I’ve loved the Yakuza series for a while now and I can’t wait to play this one when it comes out.” No paid subscription is required for these games. Just download them from the eShop to start playing for free.
