Steam offers 7 new free games that you can keep indefinitely

The Valve platform has been increasing the number of discreet additions of free games in recent weeks, and mid-February is no exception. This time, seven new titles join the free-to-play catalog, without trial period or special conditions. Simply claim them via their Steam page to keep them permanently.

Unlike free weekends or temporary trials, these games will not disappear after downloading. Once added to your library, they remain accessible without subscription or subsequent payment. An excellent opportunity to discover independent projects that are sometimes little-known.

The February 15 selection particularly highlights independent productions with original concepts. These include narrative visual novels, interactive musical experiences and even an eight-player multiplayer fighting game.

The 7 new free games added to Steam

The Plant
An interactive story centered around a researcher who communicates with an experimental plant. The player influences the progress of the story, with three possible endings depending on the choices made.

Another Day with You
An adventure game filled with mini-games in a quiet neighborhood. You can chat with locals, play hide and seek, or hang out in an arcade. Time evolves through your actions, giving a feeling of living everyday life.

DJ Bunny
A 2D musical game combining reflection and sound creation. The player composes songs by solving challenges on an interactive grid.

Cellchemist
A physical sandbox based on experimentation. More than 100 cell types are simulated pixel by pixel, providing complete freedom to solve complex puzzles.

The Empathy Algorithm
A short cyberpunk visual novel designed to be completed in about an hour. The emphasis is on atmosphere, narrative and moral choices.

Witch You Want
A light, narrative visual novel in which you help a witch save her struggling potion shop.

Galactic Brawl
A frenetic multiplayer fighting game for up to eight players. Chaotic arenas, absurd weapons and customizable mascots are on the program for particularly dynamic free-for-all matches.

Pay attention to minimum configurations

Even though these games are free, it is essential to check that your PC meets the minimum requirements. Each Steam page displays the specifications needed to run the game properly.

Two categories are generally indicated:

  • Minimum requirements : allows you to launch the game, sometimes with reduced performance.
  • Recommended configuration : offers a fluid experience consistent with the developers’ vision.

If your machine is below the minimum requirements, you may experience crashes, slowdowns or display bugs. This can alter the experience, even on technically modest games. Good news though: the majority of the titles mentioned are relatively lightweight independent productions, which makes them accessible to a wide range of PC configurations.

Why is Steam increasing its free games?

The free games strategy is not new on Steam, but it seems to be intensifying. Several reasons explain this phenomenon:

  • Giving visibility to independent studios
  • Encourage engagement on the platform
  • Retain players with regular content
  • Powering recommendation algorithms

For developers, offering a free game can help build a community, collect feedback or promote a future paid project. For players, it is an opportunity without financial risk. Testing new concepts, exploring unusual genres or simply expanding your digital library becomes easier than ever.

A library that continues to grow

Steam regularly adds new free titles throughout the year. This constant dynamic means that even outside of major sales periods, the platform remains attractive. If you want to take advantage of these offers, the easiest way is to regularly monitor the “Free” section of the Steam store or add the games as soon as they go live. In any case, these seven new titles represent a great selection to start the week without spending a cent.
