Skyblivion, the remake of Oblivion finally gives reassuring news on its release

The anticipation around Skyblivion continues to grow. This ambitious remake of Oblivion, developed by a team of enthusiasts, finally gives encouraging news after several months of silence.

During a recent livestream organized as part of Community Creations Con, the team revealed new images of the project as well as information on its progress. Enough to revive the interest of fans of The Elder Scrolls.

Skyblivion shows off new areas and content

Project lead Kyle “Rebelzize” Rebel demonstrated several new elements of the game during the event. Players were notably able to discover new areas never before shown, such as the dungeons of Fort Ontus and Silorn. Echo Cave, which serves as the setting for the Mage’s Guild finale, was also shown.

These sequences allowed us to see the work carried out on underground environments. Unlike the exterior areas, faithful to the original version of Oblivion, the dungeons have been completely redesigned. The mod also introduces new content, with new spells and additional mechanics. One of them, for example, allows you to explode enemies after burning them.

A Skyblivion project that is moving in the right direction

According to the project manager, development is progressing positively. Skyblivion is currently said to be “on excellent track”, with a release planned “as soon as possible”. These statements reassure a community that has been waiting for the project for several years.

The development of Skyblivion is entirely based on the work of a team of volunteer modders, which partly explains the length of production. Despite this, the new images presented show an advanced level of finish.

An assumed postponement to improve the quality of the remake

Originally planned for 2025, the mod’s launch was pushed back in order to finalize certain aspects of the game. “While the team has worked tirelessly and we have made immense progress — the game is in the best state it has ever been — we have reached a point in development where we must make a crucial decision, based on our commitment to quality.”

The developers then chose to take more time. “In order to provide you, the fans, with a polished, stable and complete experience, we have decided to postpone the release originally planned for 2025 to 2026.” This postponement aims to guarantee a level of quality that meets players’ expectations.

A Skyblivion release that seems to be getting closer

Even if no specific date has yet been announced, the latest information suggests that the release of the mod could take place in the coming months. The developers say new information should be shared by mid-spring. The progress of the project and the images revealed suggest that the development is entering its final phase. Fans of The Elder Scrolls will have to wait a little longer, but recent signs indicate that the wait may soon be coming to an end.
