Resident Evil Requiem: we finally know what Leon S. Kennedy’s role is

When Capcom talks about Resident Evil, fans often hope to see Leon S. Kennedy again. This time, their wishes were granted. In Resident Evil: Requiemthe famous agent is not only present, but he occupies a central place in the plot. According to statements from the developers relayed in the IGN Daily Fix show on December 12, 2025, Leon will be playable for approximately half of the adventure, confirming that this is not a simple cameo.

The other half of the game will be experienced through the eyes of a new character, Grace Ashcroft. While few details have filtered out about her, Capcom has hinted that a third protagonist could also be controlled by players. A narrative structure reminiscent of the multiple campaign system introduced in Resident Evil 6, but with a seemingly more fluid and balanced execution.

Leon S. Kennedy returns to service in Requiem

For many fans of the license, the attachment to Leon dates back to his first appearances in Resident Evil 2 And Resident Evil 4. His return to Requiem revives those memories. “As with his first appearance in RE2, it appears that you will play as Leon for approximately half of the game,” the developers clarified. This choice offers welcome continuity, while allowing it to modernize its narrative arc within the saga.

The promise of alternating gameplay between Leon and Grace raises many expectations, particularly regarding the mechanics specific to each character and their influence on the game universe. Capcom seems to be banking on deep immersion, diversifying points of view while maintaining consistency in the plot.
