Available discreetly since February 2 on the PlayStation Store, Avatar Island is a free puzzle game for PS5which doesn’t look like much but already attracts attention. For what ? Because he offers an ultra accessible Platinum trophy.
Developed by Valmere Srlthe title only requires approximately one hour of play to win all the trophies, including Platinum. All trophy content is based on a single level containing three puzzles.
A model designed for trophy hunters
In the small world of “Platinum Hunters”these free or very low-cost games have become a well-identified niche. But Avatar Island marks a major difference: it does not impose any paid trophy.
The studio Valmere Srl has stated that it does not intend to add trophies linked to DLC or future expansions. THE players who are content with the base game will therefore be able to keep their 100% without having to go to the checkout again. Paid extensions are planned, but without impact on completion. A rare choice in a category often criticized for its opportunistic practices.
A mixed reception, assumed by the developers
As is often the case with this type of easy trophy game, reactions are divided. Some love it, others denounce an impoverishment of the PlayStation reward system. The studio remains calm in the face of criticism. “Some people like [ces jeux]others don’t, and most people give a rating [négative] if they don’t like them.”
Why this release deserves your attention
Avatar Island is far from a blockbuster. But it ticks all the boxes for those who:
- like to complete their trophy collection,
- want a fast platinum, free, without trap,
- are curious to test a short, light and effective experience.
Available only on PS5, Avatar Island is part of a growing trend: that of small free games that play on the appeal of trophies. It remains to be seen how long this model will be able to continue to seduce without tiring.
