PS Plus is hiding an avalanche of RPGs in February, some can keep you busy for hundreds of hours

Just open the PlayStation Plus catalog to understand an obvious detail: if you like RPGs, you have something to disappear for weeks. In February 2026, even if the Essential selection remains light in the genre, the Extra and Premium levels concentrate an impressive list of role-playing games, between cult classics and more recent experiences.

From narrative JRPGs to open-world behemoths, Sony’s service offers a range that can easily replace purchasing a new full-price game. Here are the most notable RPGs currently available via PlayStation Plus.

Monster Hunter Stories, Citizen Sleeper and Undertale enrich the catalog

Major additions this month include Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2. These spin-offs take a more traditional JRPG approach, with turn-based combat and creature collecting, while still retaining the franchise’s challenging universe. Their difficulty increases significantly at the end of the adventure, which gives them real depth.

In a completely different register, Citizen Sleeper offers a cyberpunk narrative experience focused on atmosphere and choices. The action is minimal, but the writing and the characters’ trajectories are reminiscent of the best tabletop RPGs transposed into video games.

Undertale remains a rare phenomenon: an independent RPG that has become a cultural reference. Its relatively short duration makes it an accessible option, with an original combat system and themes that go beyond the simple framework of the classic role-playing game.

Pathfinder, Ys 8 and Like a Dragon for lovers of depth

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous stands out as one of the strongest alternatives to Baldur’s Gate 3. Rich world, memorable characters, complex narrative choices: the game does not take players by the hand and offers a greater than average challenge.

Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana demonstrates why the series deserves more attention. Fluid exploration, dynamic combat, striking soundtrack and controlled progression: this is a dense JRPG that rewards curiosity.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth continues the transformation of the Yakuza saga towards turn-based. Even if the previous episode is not included in the catalog, Infinite Wealth offers a generous adventure, striking side quests and a vibrant atmosphere which compensates for the lack of complete context.

The essential classics: Skyrim, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Bloodborne

Impossible to talk about PlayStation RPGs without mentioning The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Fifteen years after its initial release, the Special Edition remains a benchmark for freedom and variety in an open world.

Final Fantasy VII Remake revisits the first act of a monument of the genre. Enrichment of secondary characters, modernization of the combat system and spectacular artistic direction make it an ambitious rereading, even if the sequel is not included in PlayStation Plus.

Bloodborne remains a pillar of the Sony catalog. Exclusive to the PlayStation ecosystem, FromSoftware’s title combines demanding difficulty and an oppressive gothic atmosphere. Despite technical performances sometimes discussed on PS4, the experience remains intact.

Dark Cloud 2 and the value of the Classics catalog

The Premium level is not limited to modern productions. Dark Cloud 2, from the Classics catalog, perfectly illustrates the audacity of PS2 RPGs. A mix of dungeons, city building and unexpected mini-games like golf, it offers a variety that few contemporary titles still dare to offer. With often long games and very varied styles, the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalog allows you to spend dozens, even hundreds of hours, without leaving the RPG genre.
