A free gift is coming to Pokémon Legends: ZA, and it could well make us forget the Wind and Waves expansion revealed last week. Players will be able to collect three special Pokémon without spending a single cent, provided they follow a specific procedure.
From spring 2026, when compatibility between Pokémon Legends: ZA and Pokémon HOME is activated, a new bonus will be offered via Mystery Gifts. This distribution will allow you to obtain the Alpha versions of the three starting Pokémon in the game, but only under certain conditions.
Pokémon Legends: ZA, how to get the three free Alpha Pokémon
Distribution will begin with the arrival of compatibility between Pokémon Legends: ZA and Pokémon HOME. No specific date has been communicated, but the publisher confirms a spring launch. The official announcement states: “Starting this spring, if you transfer Pokémon from Legends: ZA to Pokémon HOME, you will be able to obtain the following items as Mystery Gifts in the Pokémon HOME app:” The affected Pokémon are clearly listed:
“Alpha Chikorita
Alpha Tepig
Alpha Totodile
These are indeed the Alpha versions of the three starters of the game. The clarification is formulated without ambiguity: “That’s correct: you can obtain Alpha versions of the three starter Pokémon from Legends: ZA for free.”
To take advantage of this, players will need to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: ZA to Pokémon HOME via their Switch console. Once the operation is completed, the Mystery Gift will be available exclusively on the Pokémon HOME mobile application. These Alpha Pokémon can then be returned to Pokémon Legends: ZA to explore Lumiose City with these larger versions of the starters.
A temporary offer linked to Pokémon HOME
However, this distribution may not last indefinitely. The usual operation of Mystery Gifts leaves doubt about the duration of the operation. The caveat is clear: “Most Mystery Gifts are available for a limited time, so these free Alpha starters may not be available forever.”
At the moment, no end date is displayed on the official website. This operation seems to celebrate the integration of Pokémon Legends: ZA into Pokémon HOME. Players wishing to recover Alpha Chikorita, Alpha Tepig and Alpha Totodile will therefore have to monitor the activation of compatibility in spring 2026 in order not to miss out on this special distribution.
