Pokémon Pokopia offers a ton of free downloads that you shouldn’t miss

The success of Pokémon Pokopia surprises many players. The result of the collaboration between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo, the title quickly established itself as one of the most noted games of the year 2026. On MetaCritic, it currently has an average of 89, a score which places it among the best-received releases of the moment.

At GAMINGbible, the editorial team even gave the game the maximum score. In its review, the site wrote: “There is no single reason why Pokémon Pokopia is so special; this game is the sum of its parts, with no weak link in the chain.” A recognition which underlines the very positive reception reserved for this new Pokémon experience.

Pokémon Pokopia launches its first event with Hoppip

A few days after its official release, Pokémon Pokopia is already preparing its first in-game event. Entitled “More spores for Hoppip”, this one highlights one of the emblematic Pokémon of the second generation. The event will run from March 9 at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. GMT until March 24 at the same times. During this period, players will be able to participate in a special activity in the form of a Johto-themed picnic.

The main objective is to make friends with Hoppip. Once encountered and tamed, this Pokémon will join the player’s base in the Wasteland, a central area of the game where creatures can settle. This meeting is not trivial. According to available information, Hoppip can only be obtained during this temporary event. Players who do not participate therefore risk missing out on this Pokémon.

How to get Skiploom and Jumpluff from new habitats

The event is not limited to the capture of Hoppip. Players will also be able to collect Cotton Spores, a special resource linked to this activity. These spores are used to unlock several exclusive decorative items, all inspired by a picnic. By correctly arranging these pieces of furniture in their base, players can create new habitats.

These environments then attract two other Pokémon well known to fans of generation 2: Skiploom and Jumpluff. The event thus becomes a unique way to complete a small family of plant Pokémon emblematic of Johto. However, one condition remains mandatory to access this activity. Players must have rebuilt the Wasteland Pokémon Center. This improvement occurs relatively early in the adventure.

A free Ditto mat to collect in the Pokémon Center

Alongside the event, Pokémon Pokopia is also offering another free bonus for players: a decorative rug featuring Ditto. To collect this item, simply use the Mystery Gifts functionality accessible on the Pokémon Center computer. Operation is simple: open the menu, choose “Obtain via Internet” and validate the reward. This gift will remain available until January 31, 2027, which gives players plenty of time to collect it.

A promising launch for Pokémon Pokopia

The quick launch of an event and the immediate addition of new content shows that Pokémon Pokopia seems to benefit from an active following after its release. Between temporary events, free items and exclusive Pokémon, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo seem to want to maintain players’ interest over time. Many players continue to explore the game and the different activities offered. The first events could well set the tone for upcoming updates in Pokémon Pokopia.
