The Kalos region has not yet revealed all its secrets. Expected for October 16, 2025, Pokémon Legends: ZA brings back to the forefront one of the most spectacular mechanics of the series: Mega Evolutions. True to its origins, this new game takes place in Illumis, cradle of these temporary transformations which radically modify the appearance and power of Pokémon.
Trailers and official releases have already revealed dozens of creatures capable of Mega Evolution. But this is only the beginning: credible leaks and upcoming DLC herald a wave of new forms never before seen in the franchise.
A cult mechanic that is making a comeback
To activate a Mega Evolution in Legends ZAyou will need to have a specific Mega Gem, like Charizard for Charizard. Once triggered in battle, the transformation remains active until the end of the match or until the Pokémon is KO’d. The effect is temporary, but grants a powerful stat bonus.
Mega Gems can be earned via the Battle Club or through ranked battles online. Other means could exist, but they would be unlocked later in the progression to avoid any imbalance too early in the adventure.
Here are all the Pokémon that can Mega Evolve in Legends ZA
To date, Pokémon Legends: ZA will include both classic Mega Evolutions and new exclusive creations. Some have been officially announced, others come from leaks which should be taken with caution.

Note that certain Pokémon, such as Mega Greninja, could benefit from new animations or abilities in this new opus, linked to the combat mechanics exclusive to ZA.
With over 50 Mega Evolutions already listed and more to come, Pokémon Legends: ZA could well become the most generous title in alternative forms since the concept’s introduction in Pokémon X and Y.
