Edited by Koei Tecmo Europe and developed by Team NinjaNioh 3 releases on February 6, 2026 on PS5. Third part of the saga, it takes up the solid foundations of its predecessors while transcending them. If you are a fan of soulslike challenges, combat systems of formidable depth and rich universes, this game deserves your full attention.
The scenario plunges us into 1622, in the heart of a mystical feudal Japan. Tokugawa Takechiyofuture shogun, is forced to manipulate time to counter his brother’s betrayal Kunimatsumoved to the yokai side. But it is in its mechanics that Nioh 3 impresses.
An enriched and ultra-fluid combat system
Fans of the series will find the classic postures (high, medium, low), but two combat identities redefine the experience: samurai And ninja. The first relies on constant pressure and precise parries, the second on speed, mobility and tools like shurikens or feather spells.
The game also introduces offensive jumpsof the air attacks and the possibility of change style in mid-combo. Result: the confrontations gain in verticality, in readability, but above all in expressiveness. We no longer submit to the system, we control it.
THE Burst Breakswhich require a precise sense of timing, are back in a rebalanced version. Less easy to exploit than in Nioh 2, they require careful reading of enemies. The addition of Guardian Spirits and the clear distinction between Onmyo magic And ninjutsu further enrich the possibilities.
More strategic open areas
No more corridor sequences: Nioh 3 is expanding its maps with more open and vertical areas. We discover shortcuts, hidden paths, heights offering tactical advantages, or deadly traps. This new structure encourages exploration and constantly renews confrontations.
THE Cruciblesa type of autonomous dungeon with a high difficulty, provides permanent tension. Every mistake is punished by vital corrosion reducing your maximum health. Few save points and crucial choices to make: these missions make each victory a real accomplishment.
A living hub connected to the universe
Another major new feature: the Eternal Rifta central hub inspired by the Round Table of Elden Ring. This is where we find the key NPCs, the forge, the tea house or the spirit hotel. A tangible space that replaces the old abstract menus and reinforces immersion.
Each improvement or preparation thus takes place in a coherent world, and no longer in a fixed screen. A subtle development, but one that contributes greatly to the general cohesion of the experience.
A visual and technical achievement
Visually, Nioh 3 reached a new level. The decorations gain in verticality and detail. The lighting effects and the fluidity of the animations serve readability and strategy. On PS5, the game runs stable with few notable technical flaws.
The progression curve is clear, the skill trees are rich without being opaque, and the build possibilities are almost endless. Each session makes you want to try a new approach. The ergonomics and generosity of the loot reinforce replayability without ever falling into routine.
