Even though Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment was only released in early November, Nintendo didn’t wait long to spoil players. From November 27, the hack’n slash action game developed by Koei Tecmo benefits from its second major update. Free and rich in additions, this version 1.0.2 arrives at the right time for the holidays, with a series of new features which are likely to revive interest around this ambitious spin-off of the Zelda saga.
The surprise was announced on the official Japanese website, confirming a series of gameplay improvements, bug fixes, but also the addition of new content. In other words, Nintendo continues to feed the dream machine around Zelda, in perfect timing with the approach of the Switch 2 and persistent rumors about a new version of Tears of the Kingdom.
Everything in Update 1.0.2
Among the changes brought by this 1.0.2 update, several concrete elements have been added and designed to improve the player experience:
- New challenges on the world map, accompanied by exclusive materials.
- Two new weapons: a great sword of light and a new spear.
- A new synchronized attack for Zelda and Calamo.
- A new opponent with the arrival of the Block Golem team.
- Enhanced options in the training room: possibility of directly choosing the character and their weapon.
- Bug fixes, notably for split-screen co-op mode and Share communication.
These additions do not fundamentally change the structure of the game, but they reinforce the fluidity and richness of the gameplay. “Among all these updates, the improved comfort in the training room is a real plus.”
Clearly enhanced playing comfort
The most praised novelty remains the improvement of the training room. “It will be nice to be able to choose any character and weapon to try out right off the bat, without having to go through additional menus to do so.” This seemingly innocuous change saves precious time in a game where the variety of combos is one of the main attractions.
With this update, Nintendo is clearly targeting the most dedicated players, those who like to optimize their characters and test all the configurations. A welcome saving of time and ergonomics in such a dense game.
Multiplayer, enhanced performance and longevity
Players who experienced issues in multiplayer should also see improvements. “If you’ve been experiencing issues in multiplayer, this patch may resolve them.” The patch fixes a bug that sometimes sent players back to the main menu after attempting to restart a mission.
More generally, this update reinforces the idea that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is designed to last. “Receiving update 1.0.2 so quickly, with so many additions, is a real boon for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.” This type of free content maintains player engagement and prolongs the life of the title, while awaiting possible DLC or more massive additions.
