iOS 27 prepares new AI functions that could shake up the iPhone

After a iOS 26 quite shy on artificial intelligence, Apple is preparing a rise in power with iOS 27. Clues spotted in Apple’s backend and code point to a wave of features Apple Intelligencefrom advanced visual scanning to a profound overhaul of Siri.

As WWDC 2026 approaches, which will be held from June 8 to 12, everything indicates that the iPhone will be equipped with AI tools that are much more integrated into the system: visual intelligence, automation in Apple Wallet And Safariredesigned conversational assistant. It remains to be seen whether these new features will really change the daily use of smartphones or simply allow Apple to catch up on Android.

iOS 27: these new AI functions that are already hidden in the code

According to the findings of MacRumors and other specialized sites, thevisual intelligence introduced with the iPhone 16 would become a pillar of iOS 27. It would no longer be limited to recognizing plants or animals, but would be capable of scanning food labels to extract calories, nutrients and allergens, with direct integration possible in the app Health.

The same AI brick could also read phone numbers or addresses on posters, flyers or business cards, then automatically suggest the creation of a contact in the Contacts app. It is a logical extension of a function currently confined to the calendar.

On the digital wallet side, Apple Wallet (or Maps) would prepare the automatic generation of personalized passes : concert tickets, loyalty cards or gym badges would be recognized from a simple scan to be converted into ready-to-use digital cards. Finally, Safari would test the automatic renaming of tab groupsthe AI analyzing the content of the pages to suggest a relevant name.

How iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence can change your daily life on iPhone

Concretely, doing your shopping with iOS 27 could become much simpler: you point the camera at a packet of cereals, visual intelligence reports the nutritional values and sends them to Health to track your calorie intake or allergies. Same logic for a diet or sports monitoring, without entering any data by hand.

In town, a concert poster or a doctor’s flyer becomes a future contact: the system locates the number and address, then offers to store them directly in Contacts. Back home, the printed concert ticket is scanned and transformed into Pass Walletwith QR code ready to be presented at the entrance.

For advanced users, Safari renaming tab groups alone can make the difference: no more need to sort dozens of pages, the browser tidies up your vacation searches, your tech monitoring or your professional files for you.

At the center of it all, the new Siri AI would act as orchestrator. Apple is testing a standalone app Siri with a messaging look, with history, search and possibility of sending documents or photos for analysis. The assistant would also appear in the Dynamic Island, in a “Search or Ask” bar, in the “Ask Siri” menus of Apple apps, or above the keyboard via “Write with Siri” to quickly generate or rewrite an email or message.

iOS 27, Siri AI and Apple Intelligence: when on your iPhone, and with what limits?

iOS 27 will be officially unveiled at WWDC 2026, with a first developer beta to follow and a general public release expected in the fall. Apple presents this version as a “Snow Leopard” year focused on stability, but everything suggests that Apple Intelligence will be the real common thread.

Behind the scenes, the new Siri would rely on in-house models (Apple Foundation Models) and, for certain complex queries, on models Google Gemini via a partnership agreement. A system of extensions would also make it possible to delegate certain tasks to other AI services such as ChatGPT or Claude, directly from the Siri interface.

There remains a big unknown for French users: the deployment schedule. Several Apple Intelligence functions are already absent in Europe in iOS 26.4for regulatory and data management reasons. The new visual intelligence features and Wallet passes have a good chance of arriving here quickly, but the complete chatbot Siri AI and extensions to third-party AI could be reserved first for the United States, then rolled out gradually. If Apple stays on course, the iPhone could however transform into a real everyday assistant, discreet but omnipresent in your most mundane uses.
