A project doomed from its launch
Hyper Light Breaker will therefore not have the chance to experience a version 1.0 with all the content planned by the studio. Launched last January, the title was not very successful, mainly because of a poorly managed launch by the studio. Heart Machine will not be able to turn things around, as it must now review its plans for the future of the game. Updates are still planned, but the final version of Hyper Light Breaker will not be as imagined:
“ We have more news coming in January. We plan to deliver something meaningful, as accomplished and complete as possible given the current context. We’re doing our best to polish what we can, finalize key systems, and bring the game to a satisfying conclusion. Given our limited resources and the departure of some team members, we will no longer be posting updates or hosting Q&A sessions for the remainder of the year. »
In short, it is now a matter of ensuring the minimum service for an early access release so as not to harm those who have already purchased the game. In the process, the studio announces that it will make layoffs :
“ As we finish our work on Hyper Light Breaker, we have had to make the difficult decision to part ways with several talented members of our team. It was not the ideal path for us, but the only possible one given the circumstances. While this path involves project completion, it involves larger forces than we can control, including funding changes, corporate consolidations, and the uncertain environment many small studios like ours are currently experiencing. »
Now what about Owner(s)a smaller-scale project, which should be released in November? We imagine that the scale of the project means that it will not be impacted by this restructuring, unlike Hyper Light Breaker which required a lot of resources.
