GTA 6: the first song of the game revealed, and it’s not the one expected

It was not via a trailer, a press release from Rockstar nor an official conference that the news broke, but through a podcast with a relaxed tone. Guest of Matt & Shane’s Secret Podcast, the rapper Skrilla let slip information that fans of GTA VI did not fail to note: his viral song Doot Doot (6 7) will be part of the soundtrack of the long-awaited next episode of the saga.

Doot Doot (6 7) will be on GTA VI“, he stated bluntly, even adding: “I created my actual aesthetic in the game“, suggesting that his musical universe could also be visible, and not just audible. A statement which confirms the growing influence of meme culture on the video game industry.

A song that has become cult on the Internet, now in a GTA

While this announcement may seem surprising, it echoes a well-established cultural phenomenon among young Internet users. The “67” meme, born around Skrilla’s song, exploded on TikTok, Reddit and Instagram. Diverted clips, absurd remixes and viral dances have propelled this piece into a category of its own: that of “web cult” music.

With this choice, Rockstar seems to want anchor yourself in recent cultural codesbeyond simple commercial hits. A bold decision, which could well appeal to a generation of players looking for familiar references.

But Skrilla is not the only one to have leaked his participation in the game’s soundtrack. Jermaine Dupria multi-awarded producer, declared earlier this year that Drake would have his own radio station in GTA 6. In his words: “The way they’re setting up to do it is Drake can actually upload music that we’ve probably never heard online or anywhere else on this video game.”

Information that raises hopes around the release date

Officially, Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed anything yet about the songs or artists integrated into GTA 6. But for some well-informed observers, like GameRollthis revelation could have concrete implications on the game’s schedule.

On X (ex-Twitter), the insider recalled that “Music licensing tends to be one of the very last things Rockstar does before finishing a game,” before adding: “If he’s not lying, that’s a good indication that GTA 6 won’t be delayed again.”

Scheduled for worldwide release on May 26, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|SGTA 6 therefore continues to fuel speculation and excitement. And this first musical revelation only fuels curiosity around a game that promises, once again, to redefine open world standards.
