The month of February promises to be eventful for fans of Gran Turismo 7. Polyphony Digital is preparing to deploy a new free update, and it will not only offer a few technical adjustments. These are three completely new vehicles that will join the players’ garage, each marking a major step forward for the series. After years of enriching its catalog of classic models and iconic GTs, GT7 made bold and unexpected choices here.
Hyundai Elantra N TCR: a first for TCR cars
The first model announced is the Hyundai Elantra N TCR. Until now absent from the license, cars from the TCR championship – renowned for its balanced and accessible races – are finally invited into Gran Turismo. “The Hyundai Elantra N TCR […] would be the very first TCR model to join the franchise »an entry that fills a gap often pointed out by simracing enthusiasts.
This model will strengthen the Gr.4 category, neglected since September 2023. Compact, responsive and technical, the Elantra N TCR should quickly find its place in online competitions.
Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: the first Chinese vehicle playable in GT
Another big novelty : the arrival of a completely new manufacturer in the franchise. Xiaomibetter known for its smartphones than for its cars, is entering the Gran Turismo 7 with the SU7 Ultraa 100% electric sedan. “This electric sedan with exceptional performance will also mark a first for the series by becoming the very first playable Chinese vehicle in the Gran Turismo saga”.
With this model, Xiaomi intends to demonstrate that it has its place in the market for new generation sports vehicles. “Polyphony Digital has also confirmed that other models from the Middle Kingdom are expected in the future”.
Porsche 911 GT3 R (992): a safe bet for purists
To complete this trio, Polyphony Digital is banking on a sure value: the Porsche 911 GT3 R (type 992). A true icon of the circuit, this racing car joins the Gr.3 category, very popular with players for its versatility and technicality. “The Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), which would thus be the second Gr.3 category car to join Gran Turismo 7”consolidates Porsche’s presence in gaming and expands the strategic possibilities for online competitions.
A meeting set for January 28 to find out everything
According to Polyphony Digital’s usual schedule, the official presentation of this update should take place on January 28, 2026with deployment planned for the next day. In addition to the three free cars, players can expect new Scapes, new Café menus, and additional events.
True to its promise of longevity, Gran Turismo 7 continues to evolve well after its release, consolidating its position as the benchmark for console simracing.
