Former MultiVersus execs found new studio, branching out into a completely different genre

No AAA for this studio

No doubt burned by the affair MultiVersusthe duo has no intention of immediately returning to the world of AAA today with Airlock Games. The goal of the studio is, on the contrary, to use this experience acquired in the field to bring smaller projects to life more quickly and more efficiently. An objective that was put in place to counterbalance the increase in AAA production costs:

We spent years working on prestigious AAA titles, but we missed the exceptional, unbridled creativity of smaller games. It’s a space where we can focus on creating new experiences that interest us, as players and developers. We’re excited to have the freedom to take creative risks, push boundaries, and tell stories that simply aren’t feasible for AAA productions. »

VGC reports that their first game, What the Stars Forgotfollows this principle. Far from versus fighting, Airlock Games is launching into horror here, or rather horror mixed with simulation, with a 16-bit aesthetic and an influence between Star Trek And The Terror.

The project should be available at the end of the year in early access, and a Kickstarter has just opened in the hope of raising more than €21,000 to bring the studio’s full vision to life.
