A new era begins in Planarcadia with version 4.0
HoYoverse has confirmed the arrival of version 4.0 of Honkai: Star Rail, titled “Full Moon on the Vacant Throne”. This update marks the start of a new pioneering expedition under the sign of Joy, which is destined to expand throughout the coming year.
You will be led to discover Planarcadia, a new world presented as Aha’s playground where entertainment, chaos and spectacle intertwine.
Formerly a simple Pictomonde, Planarcadia has become a bustling metropolis under the leadership of the ICC. Upon their arrival, the members of the Astral Express will meet Perle, an influential figure in the Department of Strategic Investments. This place is also of great importance to our group of explorers since it is the homeland of Himeko, and the historic starting point of the Astral Express fifteen years ago.
The city of Duopolis is notably home to the Imagenae, beings who only survive thanks to public attention. To survive, they need to be seen, celebrated and entertained.
“Absolute bangers” in combat
At the heart of Planarcadia are the Fabulous Games, a competition without fixed rules where only the ability to attract attention counts. The winner could gain an audience with Aha, with the ultimate reward: becoming an Aiôn for one minute.
In combat, this philosophy translates into the introduction of Panache points and the Aha Moment. When these points are accumulated, Aha intervenes directly, allowing the characters of the Path of Joy to chain their skills, before activating a unique bonus called “Absolute Banger” (yes yes), specific to each character.

Version 4.0 will introduce two new 5-star characters:
- Yao Guang: physical character of the Path of Joy, this strategist of the Xianzhou Alliance, is capable of influencing the fight thanks to her omens of good luck and bad luck.
- Sparxia: fiery character from the Path of Gladness, she is an emblematic streamer of Planarcadia, whose gameplay is based on a system of votes, gifts and comidedamages.
Several 5-star characters will also make their return via Event Jumps with buffs planned for Black Swan and Sparkle.
Rewards, events and new game modes
To celebrate the release of version 4.0, it will be possible to obtain 20 free prints, a new outfit for Ruan Mei, as well as a 5-star character of your choice. New events, game modes and expansions will keep you busy after completing the storyline, including “Cosmic Asset”, “Pandaroo Hebdo”, and a Parallel Universe update.

When will Honkai Star Rail version 4.0 be released?
Version 4.0 of Honkai Star Rail will be available from February 13 around 4 a.m. Maintenance will take place just before this, and you will receive Stellar Jades as compensation.
