Epic Games is willing to admit that its launcher sucks, and promises improvements

Difficult to contradict him

Yes, the Epic Games Store launcher is not good. Steve Allison stopped talking for a while to admit that this platform has many problems that have been ignored for too long:

We have a lot of things to fix. We have had to do this for years. We mainly focused on development tools and everything that entails. But last year, we finally started investing more resources into the player experience, everything our players needed, wanted, and what critics rightly criticized us for. We rolled out a lot of new features last year, and this year will probably be the best year to fix the major issues. And among these major problems, the biggest is that the launcher sucks. Let’s be honest: it’s extremely slow. »

Epic Games knows where it can look to improve this launcher, and began working on its architecture in November last year. We are promised that from May or June, the launcher should be significantly faster for users.

This is not the only point that needs to be corrected, however, and Allison knows it. He mentions the case of community spaces, which are particularly absent here, and plans to add more by letting you personalize your profile better and chat with other people more easily. Here again, these are improvements expected for the month of May, while a cross-platform library should be implemented in the fall. Better late than never, even if certain problems have been highlighted for years, which has not helped the Epic Games Store take its true place as a rival to Steam.
