Diablo series veterans launch their own action-RPG with Darkhaven

A project that wants to reconnect with certain elements of the first Diablo

Today we discover Darkhavenwhich is an isometric action-RPG set in a dark fantasy universe. We therefore understand that the inheritance Diablo is not far here, since we will have to fight an ancient evil which is trying to devour what remains of the world while it is already on the verge of chaos.

In addition to a procedurally generated persistent world whose typology can be modified, the seasons will change the landscape and the way this universe can be explored. World events will also leave their mark.

Darkhaven will be as pleasant to play solo as in cooperation, or even in PvP. Here we find a fairly dynamic combat system with the presence of jumps and dashes, because our characters will need to move easily in the world, in particular by climbing or swimming. Erich Schaefer adds:

From the start, we wanted Darkhaven to be fun to play. Freedom of movement is essential. Being able to jump over attacks, climb cliffs, dodge danger or swim across a potentially infested lake is a complete game changer when it comes to combat. It’s no longer just a question of numbers. It’s much more engaging. For me, the game is more about skill, fluidity of play and the ability to make the right decisions at the right time. I’ve never had so much fun creating and playing an ARPG. »

Despite this, Darkhaven wants to be close to the first two Diablo with loot that really mattersas Peter Hu explains:

A good equipment system is above all a question of possibilities. In Darkhaven, we want items that open up perspectives, equipment that pushes you to rethink your setup, your strategy, even the way you play. Finding a powerful item should be an exhilarating and inspiring experience, not just about tiny percentage gains. »

But so that Darkhaven lives up to its ambitions, Moon Beast Productions needs you, and a Kickstarter campaign will be launched soon. After that, the goal is to release the game first on Steam, via early access.
