Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 are used to original mods. But this one could completely change the way you explore Night City. Baptized Anti-Theft Measuresthis free mod finally adds a credible and dangerous reaction to vehicle theft. A mechanism that is clearly inspired by Grand Theft Auto VIwhose leaks announce a similar system to make each theft more risky.
Since the release of CD Projekt Red’s game, it has been possible to steal cars without any real consequences. A mechanic considered too permissive by purists, especially in a city as cruel as Night City. This mod corrects the situation.
Stealing a car will no longer be child’s play
The mod Anti-Theft Measures adds several layers of security to vehicles left on the street. “Examples include a range of safety systems such as ‘tire deflation, NCPD notification and even lethal countermeasures’.”
Concretely, as soon as you try to break into a car, you risk being reported to the police, causing the vehicle to explode… or worse. This simple addition radically transforms the stealth approach of the game, and makes every decision more strategic.
The author of the mod leaves certain effects shrouded in mystery, reinforcing the tension during each theft attempt. You could be thrown off at full speed…or become a human torch.
A “GTA 6” function before its time?
This mod also echoes the many rumors surrounding GTA VI. In the next games of Rockstarstealing a car might no longer be a formality. Some leaks already suggest cars that are harder to break into, unbreakable windows or more realistic alarms. “It’s a nifty addition to the game, and any chases with the police will be much more tense, as stealing a car will instantly alert them and likely reduce your chances of survival.”
By reinforcing the risk associated with theft, the game pushes players to improvise more, to observe and plan before acting. A welcome change of pace, and a potential turning point for Rockstar’s license. “Let’s hope this feature isn’t just a rumor, because gameplay additions like this are exactly what GTA VI needs to stand out from previous games.”
