Leading a single civilization to the end will soon be possible
First thing to note, the upcoming arrival of update 1.3.2which will add a little balancing (like the French Empire which will be reworked) and comfort, with clearer and more detailed menus. The AI has also been improved to better match the personality of each leader, while a new tool will allow you to better see where it is best to expand your civilization. Moreover, this update will add Gilgamesh to the leadership, for free.
Firaxis also intends to respond to one of the most important requests from fans of the series. In this episode, the studio opted for a system of Ages which made our civilization evolve towards another. Quite a controversial choice for regulars, who prefer to control a single civilization over an entire game. Firaxis understands this well, and if he does not abandon his new system, he plans a “Test of Time” update which will aim to respond to this request. You can then choose any civilization in any period.
This comes with some adjustments, such as the fact that each civilization will have its own “peak”, the time when it is the most powerful. Outside of this golden age, you can also select certain unique traits from other civilizations to implement in your home. Firaxis also plans to make quite a few changes to victories and triumphs in order to improve replayability. All the details can be found on the game website.
The “Test of Time” update is expected to launch sometime this spring, but this is still subject to change. As a reminder, an Apple Arcade version of Civilization VII will be released on February 5.
