Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 again ignores a requested feature on PS5

It seems like history is repeating itself. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the new opus of the famous Activision franchise developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, is officially released this Friday, November 14 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. But even before its release, PS5 players expressed their frustration: the game does not offer a Platinum trophy. A decision which no longer surprises, but which continues to annoy a loyal part of the community.

On Reddit, a user warns players who have already pre-ordered the game: “Black Ops 7 does not have a Platinum trophy”. He adds: “If you have pre-ordered the game and are waiting for its release on Friday, be aware that this Call of Duty, like previous games, does not offer a Platinum trophy. A definite disappointment for players who want to complete everything.” The absence of this emblematic trophy, which allows you to validate 100% of a game on PlayStation, arouses incomprehension.

A frustration already experienced with MW3 and Black Ops 6

This isn’t the first time Call of Duty has skipped this feature. In 2023, Modern Warfare III had already caused the same disappointment on PS5, by not including any Platinum trophy, while the PS4 version offered one. At the time, some attributed this omission to the fact that MWIII was considered simply additional content via the Call of Duty HQ launcher.

The same pattern was reproduced with Black Ops 6, and is confirmed today with the seventh opus in the series. This technical or editorial choice therefore seems to be part of a broader logic, but difficult to swallow for those who aim to completely complete their library.

On the forums, reactions oscillate between resignation and anger. A player quips: “It will have a Platinum mode within three or four years, when it will be independent of the Call of Duty launcher, like MW3 just did.” Others are considering a step back: “Looks like we’re going to remake the PS4 version.” A last one sums up the ambient state of mind: “It’s annoying…Call of Duty was a fun Platinum game.”

A decision that weighs on the community of perfectionists

For completion enthusiasts, obtaining the Platinum trophy represents much more than just a badge. It is often the result of dozens of hours of involvement, a truly fun objective. In the case of Call of Duty games, where multiplayer and campaigns can demand high performance, landing this trophy symbolizes complete mastery of the title.

The absence of this reward on PS5 is therefore not insignificant. It gives the impression of an incomplete or neglected version, which does not go unnoticed by fans. Especially since on Xbox, 100% achievements continue to be supported, without distinction.

While Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be available on November 14 and integrated into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from day one, PlayStation players will have to settle for an experience without the final reward. Once again.
